Inspections and other requirements
Note a minimum of 24 hours notice is required when booking an inspection. To book an inspection contact:
Westport office: 789 9111
Reefton office: 732 8821
In your consent documents, there will be an “Inspection Requirements and Record” sheet indicating the type and number of inspections required ie foundation, floor slab, framing, etc. It is the responsibility of the owner and/or builder to ensure that the appropriate inspections are booked when and as they are required. It is essential that these inspections are carried out so that the inspector can be satisfied when issuing the Code Compliance Certificate that the building work carried out complies with the building code and the approved plans and specifications.
The approved building consent plans and specifications (stamped copies) must be available on site in order for the inspection to be carried out. Failure to abide by the requirement may necessitate a further inspection and may require the payment of a re-inspection fee on completion of construction and before a Code Compliance Certification is issued.
As part of a commercial/industrial building consent application, additional specialist engineering inspections may be required, as well as a requirement for producer statements to be presented to Council on job completion.
