The Council staff is headed by a Chief Executive, who oversees a management team consisting of the managers of the four Council operational areas – Community and Environment, Operations and Corporate Services.

Paul has worked in a wide range of roles throughout his career. Including
Director of Operations for Otago Area Health Board, Chief Executive of
the Crown Health Enterprise Healthlink South, Chief Executive of South
Island Dairy Farmers Ltd and most recenlty as Chief Executive of Palmerston
North District Council and Tasman District Council. Paul was appointed
Chief Executive in 2011.

Steve was born and educated in Christchurch. He worked for Poverty
Bay and Westland Catchment Boards before moving to the Buller
district. Steve started work with the Buller County Council as Assistant
Engineer from 1973 to 1980, then Westport Borough Council as Borough
Engineer from 1980 to 1989, when the Borough amalgamated to form
Buller District Council. In 2004 Steve was appointed Manager Operations.

Craig was born and raised in Buller. Craig has 17 years experience in the
banking industry, in his most recent position at ASB Bank he was Business
Development Manager for Buller – West Coast which was focussed around
developing internal and external relationships within the finance sector.
Craig was appointed Manager Community and Environmental Services
in 2009.

Angela joined the Council from South Africa where she was previously
employed as the Group Internal Audit Manager for lllovo Sugar Ltd and was
responsible for managing a team of auditors across six countries in Africa.
Angela has also worked as a local government state accountant, internal
auditor, business systems manager and business analyst. She has a
Masters in Business Leadership and a Bachelor of Commerce combined
with both public and private sector experience.
