If you're not a library member, then you're missing out!
Membership of the libraries is free for all ratepayers and permanent residents of Buller District.
Children and youth under 18 years of age need their parent or guardian's approval to join.
(If you live outside of the Buller District or if you reside in the Buller for a short time only, you can still join our library by paying a subscription fee).
Membership entitles you to borrow from Westport and Reefton libraries with more than 31,000 items in their collection. New items are added frequently. We offer library and information services to the community including:
- Free Internet
- WiFi hot stpot at Westport Library
- Latest Bestsellers
- DVD rentals
- Local History and Archives services
As well as being able to borrow up to 30 items at a time you also can make use of lots of the other services we offer – for more see our services page.

Your library card will be issued upon enrolment.
Please bring along the following documentation with you when joining:
- Photo ID or ID showing your name and signature, such as valid Driver's Licence, Passport, Student ID or Community Card
- A document confirming your address, eg. a bank statement, phone or power bill, tenant agreement or your property rates notice
If you are under 18 years you will need a parent or guardian to accompany you when you join, with documentation listed above.
Your card is very important and you should notify your library immediately if it is lost or stolen.
Remember to let us know if your contact details change, and please don't let others borrow your card - you remain responsible for all charges incurred!
If you lose the library card, you will need to purchase a replacement card at a cost of $5.
